The text above is from the inside front cover dust jacket of the BATWOMAN: ELEGY Hardcover collection.
This hardcover is beautiful – the pages are thick and glossy; the cover is one of JH Williams III's standard stunning pieces of art; the extras are actually pretty darn cool. The Batwoman and Kathy Kane character sheets are sweet.
The four pages in the extras that have not been colored or inked are also quite stunning and almost as vibrant as their colored and inked versions.
This hardcover (like the BATMAN: R.I.P. HC before it) is oversized. While I am not a fan of the oversized HCs (they do not fit into my bookcases!!!), some of them are must have.
ELEGY is a must have.
The art is even more hypnotic in the HC. I've flipped through it close to a dozen times and I keep finding myself just staring at some of the pages, mesmerized.
When I went to my LCS this morning, this HC wasn't in my pull.
I panicked!
I yelled out to my buddy behind the counter, "where the heck is my Batwoman HC?"
The store manager told me that the guy who does the ordering accidentally omitted my copy when he placed the orders. Fortunately, my LCS had ordered at least two shelf copies.
I don't know what I would have done without my copy of this HC.
The only not great part?
The introduction by Rachel Maddow.
It was well written, but....it was written by Rachel Maddow.

Now, if only DCE would announce the street-date of the first issue of the BATWOMAN ongoing....

Picked my copy up today too. It is a great book.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about them being over sized. They just barley fit into my book shelves.
The only 3 HC I have that are like this are RIP Batman & Robin and now Batwomen. All the rest are normal sized HC.
Yo Joe!!!
ReplyDeleteI just had to reorganize my shelves to fit it on top of the R.I.P. HC. I had to lay them in there horizontally.
This is a great write-up for Batwoman.
ReplyDeleteI love getting extras, to me, its the only reason to buy a HC, since I already have the singles.
I had a similar instance at my LCS when I ordered the Blackest Night Directors cut.
You feel Panic, and have to put effort in keepn' your voice from cracking as you ask the clerk where it is.
